Liverpool At Night

Three layered screen print

Inspired by Artist Jan Pienkowski’s illustrations. Liverpool at night is an amalgamation of different buildings and structures from around Liverpool. This project was my first attempt at a three layered A3 screen print. The three layers are the blue sky, black building silhouette and a multicoloured layer for the windows. I really enjoyed the marble colouring as it allowed me to make fun colour combinations and patterns.



I chose the theme of night because when I was gathering reference images it was Christmas time, and as well as Christmas light some building can be seen lit up and some with neon sighs. So, with all the coloured lights and shadowy silhouettes of the buildings reminded me of Jan Pienkowski’s work.



Most of the building I chose feature closest to the Liverpool front. From the bottom up you can see the entrance to the docks, the docks and world museum, Port of Liverpool Building, royal liver building and finally the wheel of Liverpool.
